Building Safe Havens for Black Women
Digital spaces hold the power to connect, uplift, and transform—but for Black women, they’re often battlegrounds and sanctuaries.
At Black Girl Narrative, we’re reimagining these spaces as havens of advocacy, storytelling, and collective care. Through every initiative, we amplify the stories of Black women, addressing systemic inequities while creating environments where Black women thrive unapologetically.
Together, we challenge the status quo, embrace the power of collective action, and pave the way for equitable digital futures.

The Power of Stories AND
Transforming Narratives
Stories are more than personal experiences—they are tools of resistance, survival, and transformation.
For Black women, storytelling becomes a means of reclaiming agency, countering systemic erasure, and inspiring collective change.
At Black Girl Narrative, we celebrate the narratives that uplift, connect, and challenge.
Movements like #SayHerName demand justice for Black women lost to police violence, while #BlackGirlMagic redefines global standards of beauty and brilliance. These movements exemplify the power of storytelling to shape culture and catalyze action.

The Impact of Our Work
At Black Girl Narrative, our work is rooted in the lived experiences of Black women navigating digital spaces as sites of resistance, kinship, and care. Our research uncovers the systemic inequities shaping Black women’s digital presence and the strategies they use to build sanctuary. Findings from The Love We Code reveal that Black women consistently face harassment, algorithmic suppression, and digital exploitation—yet they continue to carve out spaces of joy, safety, and advocacy. Despite platform barriers, Black women create and sustain digital havens where care, connection, and resistance thrive. These insights fuel our advocacy to hold platforms accountable and to reimagine digital spaces as sites of liberation, not harm.
Experience harassment rooted in misogynoir.
Highlight collective care as essential for thriving.
Report algorithmic bias or shadow banning.
